Thanksgiving....

It would be very easy for me to bemoan the fact that I was stuck in England during Thanksgiving; that auspicious day of turkey, stuffing, thanks-giving, parades, triptophane, pumpkin pie, and family. Instead though, I will endevour to revel in the good: 1) it's been nice to explain the holiday to interested non-americans and tell them about American culture in a world that often believes we have none. 2) separation makes the heart grow fonder. 3) ice skating at the tower of London is not something I could have done in Watertown. 4) tonight I have a make-shift dinner with my make-shift gang of international friends and some others. For a lot of them, it will be the first Thanksgiving of their lives and, hopefully, I will find some joy at being surrounded by my new friends, eating, and celebrating my favorite day.

HI BABY,
MAYBE I CAN GIVE YOU SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT WHILE YOUR HAVING YOUR DINNER TODAY. I WILL TRY TO DESCRIBE OUR DAY TO YOU. IT WAS VERY ENJOYABLE. I WISH YOU COULD HAVE BEEN THERE WITH US.

THE DAY STARTED AS USUAL. DAD AND JACOB GOT UP VERY EARLY TO GO DEER HUNTING, BUT IT WAS SO WINDY AND COLD THAT THEY DECIDED NOT TO GO. ANDREW WAS SUPPOSED TO GO WITH THEM, BUT HE LIKES HIS WARM BED BETTER AND DECIDED TO JUST STAY PUT. ANYWAY THEY CAME HOME AND CRAWLED BACK INTO BED. THEN WE STARTED AGAIN AT AROUND 9:00 A.M.
I JUST LOVE ALL THE COOKING AND FUSSING AROUND. TERESA AND JOHN AND THE BOYS GOT TO OUR HOUSE AROUND 1:00 P.M. THEY BROUGHT PIES AND CHIPS AND DIPS AND CHEESES AND CRACKERS AND DRINKS AND ENOUGH MUNCHIE STUFF TO FILL US UP BEFORE WE EVEN ATE THE BIG DINNER. OF COURSE WE HAD THE USUAL "GET OUT OF THAT," "PUT THAT BACK!" "PUT ME DOWN!!". AT ONE POINT, I WAS AT THE STOVE WHEN JACOB CAME UP BEHIND ME AND PICKED ME UP. FOR SOME REASON I WAS HAULED DOWN THE HALLWAY AND DEPOSITED IN ANDREW'S ROOM. WHO KNOWS WHY!! I JUST PICK MYSELF UP OFF THE BED AND HEAD BACK TO THE KITCHEN. AT ONE POINT I SAW TERESA BEING PICKED UP BY NICK AND SPUN AROUND. WHO KNOWS WHY. SOMETIMES IT JUST SUCKS BIG TIME TO BE SHORT. ANYWAY, THE FOOD GOT DONE, WE ATE, DRANK, AND BEED MERRY. GOOD CONVERSATION WITH ALOT OF LAUGHTER. YOU KNOW HOW TERESA LIKES TO LAUGH. AFTER WE GOT EVERYTHING CLEANED UP, AND BY WE, I MEAN TERESA AND I, WE DECIDED TO PLAY A GAME. ANDREW HAD GONE TO SPEND A LITTLE TIME WITH SHAWNA AND THEN THE TWO OF THEM CAME BACK AND SAT WITH US PLAYING SCATTEGORIES. WE REALLY HAD A GOOD TIME. AFTER WE HAD ENOUGH OF THAT WE SAT AROUND THE TV AND WATCHED "FINDING NEMO". TERESA AND JOHN AND THE BOYS LEFT AROUND 9:30 AND THAT ENDED THE DAY. VERY RELAXING AND ENJOYABLE. SO WHILE YOU ARE HAVING YOUR OWN "SPECIAL" THANKSGIVING DINNER, JUST PICTURE ALL OF US. WE WERE CERTAINLY THINKING OF YOU.
WE LOVE YOU!! SEE YA SOON!!
